Someone had to get real. Who would uphold the tradition and consider the true meaning of Thanksgiving for writers anxious to take a break from their work to be enlightened, encouraged, and/or empowered with a stimulating post?
So, here is my Thanksgiving List dedicated to you, our beloved readers and my fellow contributors (Pepper, Casey, Sherrinda, Krista, Angie, Julia, Sarah, Cindy, and Wendy)
I am thankful for.......because
Mosquitoes: Consider the invigorating exercise you get as those buggers hum by your ears, (just the thought makes me want to flail my arms), and the fresh oxygen to your circulatory system...hear those fresh ideas humming into your brain?
Traffic Jams: Hours and hours of listening to your favorite radio station or CD. How relaxing.
Math Tests and Doing Taxes: Stumbling through line by line details...great for enhancing editing skills.
Crowded Shopping Malls: Golden opportunity to bump into a future character for your WIP...perhaps the villain.
Blizzards: Even when the power goes out, families and friends come together.
Writing Partners/Crit Groups/Blog Contributors: Who else would we purposefully ask to slice and dice our work and thank afterwords?
Seriously, I am most thankful for Jesus
and what He did for us.
Let us know what you're thankful for..
humor is very acceptable :)

AMEN to that, Mary!!! Without Jesus, I'd probably be an old maid sitting alone in a cramped apartment estranged from my family writing only God knows what.
Because of HIM ... the Love of my Soul ... I am an Inspirational author with an AMAZING husband and family, writing this in a cozy hearth room with twinkle lights over a mantle where a blazing fire crackles and warms my feet like HE warms my soul. I shiver to think where I would be without Him!!
I'm grateful for HIM, my family, the gift of writing for Him and wonderful blogger friends like the Alley Girls (or Alley Authors in the not-to-distant future!). Happy Thanksgiving, all!
Hugs,
Julie
Amen! I love this, Mary!! Today my first thought is thankfulness for my children. Yesterday was a most interesting day filled with bathroom accidents, spillage, broken things, etc. Seems like when I am working too hard on getting "things" ready God uses my children's actions to give me a little reminder about what's really important. And it reminds me (after the crying) to be thankful I have rugs to clean, children to make those messes, and eternal things that are of far greater value than anything material in my house :) Thank you, Mary for a great reminder about being thankful for the inconveniences of life (and they're really pretty small, aren't they??).
Julie L.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Your list of thanksgiving is warm and secure.
Thanks for sharing your blessing:)

You are so right. Its easy to see the mess instead of the blessings. I'm glad God gave you those sweeties:)
I'm thankful our one and only is having a much better year at college than she did her first year--and that she'll be home later today for a visit.
I'm thankful for my Dream Team, which includes my incredibly supportive hubby/plotting partner, my awesome agent Rachelle Gardner, and my two amazing CPs, Anne Barton and Jody Hedlund.
I'm thankful I was able to attend both the RWA and ACFW conferences and that I got to meet many of my wonderful blogging buddies in person.
I'm thankful for Taco Bell and sweet tea, which fuel my creativity. =)
Mary, I am not so sure I can be thankful for mosquitos, but you did give me a valid reason to say...okay I don't think I can muster up enough gratitude for that one. ;)
But I love all the others and this post!! I am thankful for those like the ladies here on the Alley. God is so good to put me with all you amazing women. What a great envirnoment to grow as a writer. And a person. :)
Where would I be without God's grace, right Julie?? I am most thankful for that I think this Thanksgiving season.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!
Oh Mary, I'm so thankful God plopped this group of ladies in my lap a couple months ago (figuratively speaking, of course). And I'm thankful for family members who are on their way for a visit as I type. Now back to feeding my daughter her first serving of sweet potatoes...talk about sweet.
Lol...you ARE funny and I love it!
I'm thankful for my Alley Buddies and blogging friends. I'm thankful for a job, even though I complain about it. I'm thankful that this year I get to be in charge of Thanksgiving!!! My first, with my son & his wife coming in.
It's gonna be great!
Keli
I have 2 in college. One as a junior who still doesn't know what he wants, the other, with dreams of grad school in UK next year. Wowsers...college kids keep us hopping, eh?
I love the rest of your list too...so glad you included sweet tea:)
Casey,
I must admit the mosquitos were dedicated to you...just because it was a ridiculous thing to pick. Didn't take long to pick my #1 ridiculous thing..but had to search for a while to find something to be thankful about it LOL
So loving Thanksgiving season, and how it brings us all together to thank God for what He's done and is doing for us.:)
Sarah,
I'm glad I met you through the Alley. God brings people together in fun ways:)
Have fun with your family this Thanksgiving:)
Blessing on you and yours.
Sherrinda,
I credit giggles to you and my cohorts in crime. So love laughing at yours and the other alley cat's lines.
Have a super time with the Thanksgiving bash with the family:)
Tip: send left overs with them...they will love you for it.
I'm so thankful to have met you Alley-ites...and its definitely a God-thing. (Casey can testify to that ;).
I agree Mary, I completely agree. To God be the glory!!
And yes, I can Julia. *wink* So glad you are here with us!! :)
Mary,
This is FABULOUS!!!! And after you add your picture to the one at the bottom of the post, then we can put it up on The Writers Alley.
I LOVE it!!!!
God is good - all the time.
And He's been especially gracious to toss me in with the Alley Cats.
You guys are wonderful.
Blessings,
Very stimulating, Mary, like a strong cup of coffee. And clearly you've been getting plenty of oxygen!
Blessed Advent season,
Mary Kay
"Crowded Shopping Malls: Golden opportunity to bump into a future character for your WIP...perhaps the villain." -- THAT made me laugh. So true, though!
