I've read way too many books were the ending is disappointing - even really good books that I still recommend.Tracy Krausshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05066853243062725525noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7392393277880937685.post-24536264994111849822012-06-27T10:35:37.869-07:002012-06-27T10:35:37.869-07:00Great post! Of course, now that I want them, most of my favorite endings elude me, but here's a full circle ending from Dickens' Great Expectations:

"I took her hand in mine, and we went out of the ruined place; and, as the morning mists had risen long ago when I first left the forge, so, the evening mists were rising now, and in all the broad expanse of tranquil light they showed to me, I saw no shadow of another parting from her."V. I've heard advice before...Lovely post, Karen.

I've heard advice before that if you can weave into the ending a detail from the opening, you create a circle and a more satisfying ending. Very hard to do - for me anyway.

I have simple requirements for the endings - since I read and write romance, there must be a 'happily ever after' with the hero and heroine. And it must include a final KISS. I have been very disappointed when the hero proposes and she accepts, and ... horror... no kiss. What is that?

The ending doesn't have to have a proposal, but it must have a mushy scene!! And epilogues are great - giving us a glimpse into their HEA!

Just my opinion...

Cheers,
SueSusan Anne Masonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17258093329143787876noreply@blogger.com
